BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has announced that upper Thailand will see colder weather with strong winds, as temperatures are expected to drop by another 1-2°C. Frost may form in some areas on mountaintops and high peaks.
According to the department, a new wave of moderate high-pressure or cold air mass is extending over northeastern Thailand. It is expected to gradually cover the northern, central, eastern regions, as well as Bangkok and its vicinity. This will lead to colder weather and strong winds in upper Thailand, with temperatures dropping by 1-2°C.
The northeastern and northern regions will experience cool to cold weather, while the central, eastern, and upper southern regions, including Bangkok, will have cool mornings. Mountaintops and high peaks will be cold to very cold, with frost in some areas. The public is advised to take precautions to maintain their health during the cold weather and to stay vigilant against potential fire hazards due to dry and windy conditions.
The moderate northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf of Thailand and the South will continue to cause isolated thunderstorms in the lower southern region. Meanwhile, moderate waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
The lower Gulf will experience waves of about 2 meters, while the upper Gulf will see waves of 1-2 meters. The Andaman Sea will have waves around 1 meter high, and 1-2 meters offshore. In areas with thunderstorms, waves could exceed 2 meters. Mariners in these areas are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
Air Pollution: Dust and haze accumulation in upper Thailand remains at moderate levels due to moderate wind and ventilation conditions, according to the department. – Thai News Agency
