Thailand and China reaffirm strategic partnership ahead of 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties

Thai and Chinese leaders pledge stronger bilateral and multilateral collaboration during high-level discussions in Bangkok.

BANGKOK, Thailand – H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on 19 December, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Sun Weidong, Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, during the latter’s visit to Bangkok to co-chair the 7th Thailand – China Strategic Dialogue and participate in the 6- Country Informal Consultation hosted by Thailand.

Both sides followed up on the discussions between the leaders of both countries, as well as reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, particularly as both countries will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2025. They also exchanged perspectives on regional developments, including situation in Myanmar and regional cooperation in many aspects such as water resources management, as well as stressing the importance of their comprehensive strategic partnership in synergising efforts for their mutual benefits and the region’s interest.
