BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra conducted a surprise inspection of the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2) in Chatuchak District this afternoon to ensure the readiness of facilities, staff, and buses to accommodate the large number of travelers heading home for the New Year holidays, Dec 26. The PM also took the opportunity to encourage staff working during the festive season.

The inspection, which took place at 3:00 PM, followed her earlier visit to the Traffic and Accident Management Center at the Department of Highways in Ratchathewi, Bangkok. During her time at Mo Chit 2, the Prime Minister reviewed various operational aspects, including ticket counters, waiting areas, and bus platforms, emphasizing the importance of smooth and safe passenger flow to prevent overcrowding.


During the visit, the Prime Minister interacted with travelers, inquiring about their journeys. Many passengers expressed excitement, taking the chance to take photos with her and share their travel plans. Some were surprised by her presence, as they had heard about her packed schedule and were thrilled to meet her unexpectedly.

PM Paetongtarn also discussed key operational issues with Mr. Attawit Rakjamroon, Acting Managing Director of the Transport Company Limited. She emphasized ensuring there were sufficient buses and routes to meet travel demand. She also highlighted the importance of driver safety, urging strict measures for rest breaks and drug testing to uphold public safety standards.

The Prime Minister’s visit aimed to boost public confidence in transportation services during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year, reinforcing her commitment to the safety and convenience of all citizens.
