BANGKOK, 1 July 2015 – The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) held the third Chief Information Officers’ (CIO) meeting for this year to push forward modern government services, by connecting data system of government units and the private sector with the help of ICT, acting Permanent Secretary of the ICT Ministry Songporn komolsuradej revealed.
She said the integration of information would upgrade the government service system, adapting it to the changing demand of today’s citizens.
It would not only improve public access to government data centers, but would also drive Thailand to become the country with digital economy, one of the government policies on the national reform roadmap.
EGA or Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) has been assigned to oversee the development of Government Application Center (GAC) where the most reliable freely-downloading mobile applications are compiled in one place. The GAC provides the public an access to government services and functions as data archive.
Apart from the GAC, the EGA operates “Smart Kiosk” and “G-Point” where people can check their basic rights by using ID smart card. The services are available on 1st floor, Central World in Bangkok.
