BANGKOK, Thailand – A dramatic incident unfolded in Bangkok’s Silom area when a taxi driver used a sharp weapon to slash a passenger’s face, leaving them covered in blood, January 11. The situation escalated as passing riders and other passengers intervened, restraining and beating the driver until the police arrived.

The Facebook page “Social Hunter 2022” shared images of the incident, which quickly went viral. According to the post, the altercation between the taxi driver and passenger began with an argument, which led to the violent attack. Fortunately, bystanders, including motorcycle riders passing by, managed to subdue the driver and prevent further harm.


Police promptly arrived at the scene and escorted all parties involved to the police station for further investigation. The incident sparked outrage online, with many calling for stricter measures to address passenger safety.

Several commenters expressed concern for the safety of other passengers, emphasizing that such acts could result in fatalities if not addressed. Others demanded harsher penalties for such behavior, stating that it tarnishes the country’s image and poses a severe danger to the public. Calls for the revocation of the driver’s license have also gained traction.

Authorities are being urged to take swift action to prevent such violent incidents from endangering public safety in the future.
