BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand will host the 5th ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN) from January 13th to 17th in Bangkok.

Organized under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong, the event will bring together ASEAN ministers responsible for digital policies to discuss the region’s digital future and enhance collaboration with dialogue partners, including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and India.

This year’s theme, “Secure, Innovative, Inclusive: Shaping ASEAN’s Digital Future,” focuses on addressing cybersecurity threats, fostering technological innovation, and promoting equitable access to digital tools. Delegates from all 10 ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste, and the ASEAN Secretary-General will participate in the discussions.

Key agenda items include updates on the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025, project progress under the ASEAN Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (ATRC), and approval of funding for 2025 initiatives through the ASEAN ICT Fund.

The meeting will also highlight significant topics such as cross-border privacy frameworks, digital identity verification systems, and the governance of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Delegates will review and endorse key documents, including the Bangkok Digital Declaration and a joint media statement. Thailand will also present its leadership on combating online scams through the ASEAN Working Group on Anti-Online Scams (WG-AS), which it chairs, by proposing recommendations to address digital fraud.

As part of its leadership efforts, Thailand will showcase its commitment to advancing regional cooperation on digital security and innovation. The inclusion of measures to address online scams in the Bangkok Digital Declaration will underscore ASEAN’s collective response to online threats and scams across digital and telecommunications platforms.
