Over 1,700 rai of land scorched as rugged terrain and strong winds challenge firefighting efforts in Dong Phayayen, Nakhon Ratchasima, with a coordinated response from military, local, and national agencies.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – Officials have reported progress in containing a forest fire that has already scorched over 1,700 rai of land within the National Reserved Forests in Dong Phayayen, Nakhon Ratchasima province. The blaze, which started in nearby forests, threatens a total area of 25,000 rai near the boundary of Khao Yai National Park, approximately 5 kilometers away. Rugged terrain and windy conditions have complicated the response efforts.

Local and national agencies, supported by military units, are actively working to bring the fire under control. Helicopters deployed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment conduct water drops over inaccessible areas, while ground teams from various forest fire control stations and the 2nd Army Region coordinate to ensure effective containment.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, after receiving an early morning briefing, has called for unified efforts across all agencies to combat the fire. The premier affirmed that the safety of affected communities and personnel remains a top priority, and monitoring will continue until the situation is fully resolved.
