BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesman Aekvarunyoo Amrapala disclosed that Bangkok has been ranked 34th most attractive city in the world in the 2024 Global Cities Index (GCI) by global business consulting firm Kearney. Climbing 11 places from 45th in 2023, Bangkok’s ranking is the highest growth among the top 50 cities worldwide as a result of the improvement in business activities, cultural experiences, and information exchange.

The progress in business activities in Bangkok is mainly due to the increase in maritime transport figures this year. In addition, an increase in world-class service companies in Bangkok has reflected the country’s attractiveness as a destination for overseas business services. In term of information exchange, the new Internet speed indicator also benefited Bangkok, which was ranked 8th in the world in this category. As for the cultural experiences, indicators such as the number of foreign arrivals, food variety, and performing and visual arts all showed improvement as well.

The top ten cities in the 2024 GCI are New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Chicago. (PRD)
