BANGKOK, 6 July 2015 – Deputy Defence Minister Udomdej Sitabutr has paid a visit to troops operating along the Thai – Cambodian border.
It was the first visit by Gen Udomdej as the army chief to the border area under the jurisdiction of the Suranaree Force of the 2nd Army.
According to him, the visit is aimed providing moral support to soldiers stationed in Si Sa Ket and Surin, adding the Thai-Cambodian relations are well-maintained. Both countries have been cooperating to tackle the issues of illegal logging and drug-smuggling along the border.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong is also slated to pay an official visit to Thailand from July 10 to 12 in order to further deepen the relations between the two neighbouring countries. He is expected to attend the signing of the Amendment of Agreement on Border Crossing and the announcement on the opening of bilateral checkpoint An She as an international checkpoint.
