Businessman granted bail after threatening rider with gun and assaulting him at home; bail set at 300,000 baht.

BANGKOK, Thailand – A 46-year-old businessman, Sirianon, was granted bail after he was arrested for threatening a 46-year-old rider, Uthit, with a gun and assaulting him further inside his home near Rama 9. The incident occurred when Uthit went to pick up a package for delivery in Sub-Soi 35 in Soi Rama 9, where he was attacked. Sirianon, who was in possession of five registered firearms (owned by his mother and relatives), was charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.


According to Huamark Station Chief, Police Colonel Phonthawee Somwong, Sirianon was questioned early this morning (Jan 31) and additionally charged with violating the Arms Control Act. The suspect requested bail at 300,000 baht, which was granted. In addition to the bail, Sirianon is prohibited from contacting or approaching the victim directly and must report to the police every 12 days.

The driver accompanying Sirianon at the time of the incident was also charged with attempted murder for not intervening to stop the assault, though he was granted bail of 100,000 baht.


The police are continuing their investigation and coordinating with the delivery company to identify a woman who was allegedly involved in the case, as mentioned by the rider.

The police are also looking into the CCTV footage showing a car leaving Sirianon’s house before the incident occurred. The investigation will be submitted to the prosecutor for further action.
