BANGKOK, 13 July 2015 – Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapagorn has received Cambodian foreign minister Hor Namhong during the latter’s official visit to Thailand and discussed trade, investment and tourism collaborations with his counterpart.

General Tanasak and Mr. Namhong discussed the collaborations during the latter’s visit to Thailand on July 10-12. Some of the collaborations included joint development of the shared border and improvement of border points. The two parties also signed an agreement on Thai-Cambodian border crossing, which would allow citizens of both countries who live along the shared border to make regular commutes across the border. This development would allow both countries to fill the labor demand of regular and seasonal businesses along the border area, contribute toward curbing alien workers’ illegal migration, and contribute toward the development of both countries’ border areas.

Thailand and Cambodian also declared their intention to open a new permanent border crossing point at Chong An Ma in Ubon Ratchathani, which links to Preah Vihear Province in Cambodia
