Adding to the prestige, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has graciously bestowed the Royal Trophy for the festival’s most outstanding float.

The “Mali Khao Tok Procession” festival kicks off on February 7th with an opening ceremony featuring a sacred ritual and dance performance accompanied by the “Mali Khao Tok” song. Visitors can enjoy the “Mali Khao Tok” procession, cultural performances, Red Cross booths, OTOP product sales, and a vibrant walking street market throughout the festival. The unique “Mali Khao Tok” procession culminates on the event’s final day.

53th World’s Only Wien Tien Ceremony on Water, Phayao Lake

Wat Tilok Aram’s unique Wien Tien (candlelight procession) on water, the only one of its kind in the world, takes place three times a year—on Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, and Asanha Bucha. The traditional procession, where devotees circle the chapel three times with lit candles, is performed on the water. Visitors can also participate in offering dried food to 69 monks, enjoy stunning views of the lake, experience captivating Lanna cultural performances, savor delicious local cuisine, and shop for Phayao’s cultural products and OTOP goods.
