BANGKOK, 14 July 2015 – The spokesmen of the Constitution Drafting Committee have given an assurance that the draft charter will be completed on time.

CDC spokesmen Gen Lertrat Ratanavanich and Kamnoon Sidhisamarn said on Monday that the floating of an idea by the national government is perfectly normal when everyone is invited to share their opinion on any topic.

The two confirmed that the CDC has not chosen such an idea to debate nor put the suspending clause in the draft charter.

They also denied that the charter drafters have already opted for the mixed-member proportional representation system for the new Constitution, or have supported the idea of a national government because that will be the responsibility of the House of Representatives.

The CDC spokesmen added that the charter drafters’ mobile meeting will take four to five days to review Articles 217 to 315 and some suspended clauses before the entire draft is reviewed — a process that should be wrapped up by July 18.
