BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) has announced that Thailand has ascended to the 15th position in global agricultural exports, up from 16th place, while continuing to promote high-value agricultural products and eco-friendly production practices.

In 2024, Thailand’s agricultural exports reached US$53 billion (THB1.8 trillion), with a trade surplus of $30 billion (THB1 trillion). Thailand’s top agricultural export destinations include China, the U.S.A., Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Rice remains the top export product, followed by chicken, durian, rubber, and pet food. Notably, Thailand is the world’s largest exporter of rubber, with prices rising by $1.2 (THB40) per kilogram, boosting the economy by over $3 billion (THB100 billion) without additional government expenditure.

Furthermore, the MOAC is committed to fostering the production of high-value agricultural products such as coffee and cocoa, while also promoting environmentally sustainable agriculture. A key initiative is the promotion of low-carbon rice production, which reduces water consumption by more than 50% and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the ministry is supporting the development of “Young Smart Farmers” to ensure the long-term sustainability of the agricultural sector. (PRD)
