Thailand showcases Muay Thai Heritage at World Festival 2025

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Amazing Muay Thai World Festival 2025 was held on February 5th-6th at Rajabhakti Park in Hua Hin of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The event was collaboration among the Royal Thai Army, the Subcommittee on Sports Industry Development, the National Soft Power Development Committee, and various government and private sector organizations. The event celebrated Muay Thai as a national sport and an integral part of Thailand’s cultural identity.



On the evening of February 6th, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Phumtham Wechayachai presided over the official opening ceremony. He also attended Muay Thai performances featuring over 2,000 Royal Thai Army personnel, showcasing the martial arts’ deep historical roots and its significance in Thailand’s military tradition.

The festival honored the 323rd anniversary of the ascension of King Sanphet VIII of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, who is recognized as the “Father of Muay Thai.” The event highlighted Muay Thai’s origins as a close-combat martial art, historically used to defend Thailand’s sovereignty.


Throughout the festival, visitors experienced a historical exhibition on Muay Thai, industry promotion events, competitive matches, and a large-scale military demonstration symbolizing unity and strength. The event also served as a platform to position Muay Thai as a global soft power asset, aligning with the Thai government’s strategy to leverage cultural heritage for economic growth and international recognition.

By hosting the Amazing Muay Thai World Festival 2025, Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting its national sport, ensuring that Muay Thai remains a symbol of strength, discipline, and cultural pride on the world stage. (NNT)
