BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai authorities have launched a major inspection of industrial operations in Samut Sakhon Province, targeting unauthorized factories and substandard manufacturing practices following public complaints about environmental and safety violations.
Minister of Industry Akanat Promphan ordered the crackdown, mobilizing a task force consisting of officials from the Department of Industrial Works, the Samut Sakhon Provincial Industry Office, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), and the Environmental Crime Suppression Division. The operation was initiated in response to reports filed through the Traffy Fondue LINE account, a government platform for public complaints.
Authorities inspected a large warehouse in the capital district, where Hongyue Renewable Resources Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a metal smelting and scrap material processing facility, was found operating without proper authorization. The company, whose sole registered director is a Chinese national, was illegally emitting black smoke at night, violating environmental regulations. Officials ordered an immediate shutdown and filed multiple charges, including illegal possession of hazardous materials, tampering with seized equipment, and obstructing officials.
The investigation also led to United Baijia Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of electrical switches, power plugs, and outlets. Inspectors seized 83,200 power strips, 42 rolls of copper electrical wire, and 50 residential electrical outlets valued at 4.78 million baht, as the products failed to meet Thai Industrial Standards. The company was charged with producing and distributing uncertified electrical equipment without authorization.
The Ministry of Industry urges the public to report suspected industrial violations and unsafe products through the Traffy Fondue LINE ID. Authorities emphasize that swift enforcement actions are necessary to protect public health, safety, and environmental integrity in Thailand’s industrial sector. (NNT)
