BANGKOK, 17 July 2015 – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has assured the transparency in the auction of low quality rice in the government stock for the production of ethanol and animal feed.
DITP Director-General Duangporn Rodphaya has revealed that grains considered to be below the standards will be subjected to the National Rice Policy Committee’s inspection to make sure they are not contaminated if any potential bidders want them for the production of animal feed.
Good grains that have already been separated from those with deteriorated conditions will be sold at a regular price. Another inspection will be conducted by the Ministry of Commerce before the decision is made as to which industry the poor-quality rice will be used as raw materials.
The DITP Director General said the process has been transparent and monitored by several committees.
