NONTHABURI, 19 July 2015 – The Department of Internal Trade has launched a cooking contest urging operators partaking in its budget food program to vie for the best budget cooking award.
The contest, which is taking place at Central Plaza Rattanathibet in Nonthaburi Province, is divided into two classes: the outlet category and the rice menu. Competitors are to cook dishes specified by referees. Their works will be judged by different criteria, including cleanliness, ingredients, tastes, prices and visitors’ response.
The objectives of the contest are to encourage outlets participating in the budget food project under the Ministry of Commerce to improve their quality standards and to urge more food retailers to join the project. The Ministry of Commerce has planned to add the number of budget food outlets in Bangkok by 200-300 within this year and bring the number of similar operators to 1,600 across the country.
Apart from economical food stalls, shoppers will have the opportunity to snap up discounted consumption products at the venue.
