Bangkok air quality remains moderate, poor ventilation expected February 26-28

From February 26-28, poor ventilation may lead to an increase in PM2.5 concentrations.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Air Quality Information Center reported the PM2.5 situation in the capital at 7:00 AM on February 24. The average PM2.5 level in Bangkok was 30.7 µg/m³, classified as moderate (yellow level).

However, three areas exceeded the standard limit of 37.5 µg/m³, reaching orange level, which may begin to impact health:

Bang Na District (in front of Big C Bang Na) – 39.0 µg/m³
Thonburi District (bus stop at Maha Sawat intersection) – 38.2 µg/m³
Bang Khun Thian District (inside Bang Khun Thian District Office) – 37.7 µg/m³



Health Recommendations:
Orange Level (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups):

General Public: Wear a PM2.5 protective mask when outdoors, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and monitor for symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, or eye irritation.

At-Risk Groups (children, elderly, those with respiratory conditions): Avoid intense outdoor activities, follow medical advice, and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.


Weather Conditions & Forecast:

Air circulation on February 24-25 is rated good to very good due to near-surface inversion and potential rainfall, which may help stabilize or reduce dust levels.

However, from February 26-28, poor ventilation may lead to an increase in PM2.5 concentrations.

The weather forecast: 30% chance of thunderstorms, with strong winds expected in some areas.

NASA satellite data: No significant heat sources were detected in Bangkok.
