BANGKOK, Thailand – The Chinese Embassy in Thailand confirmed that 40 Uyghur individuals have been repatriated to Xinjiang, emphasizing that the process adhered to legal procedures and was carried out swiftly to allow them to resume normal lives.
At 4:39 PM on February 27, the embassy issued a statement via its official Facebook page, Chinese Embassy Bangkok, announcing that 40 Chinese nationals who had illegally entered Thailand were returned to China.
According to the statement, the individuals were transported on a chartered civilian flight as part of a cooperative effort between China and Thailand to combat illegal immigration and safeguard the lawful rights of Chinese citizens. The process followed the legal frameworks of both nations and international protocols.
The group had been detained in Thailand for over a decade due to complex international factors. Chinese public security and immigration authorities expedited their return after fulfilling all necessary legal procedures, ensuring a fair, standardized, and humane process. The embassy stated that the operation aimed to help the individuals reintegrate into normal life.
The embassy also released images related to the repatriation, including one featuring Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of Thailand’s National Security Council (NSC), who was reportedly involved in overseeing the process.
