NONTHABURI, Thailand – A six-year-old girl is in critical condition after being attacked by a pit bull that escaped from a neighboring property in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok, late on Thursday.
The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in Pak Kret District. The girl, identified as “Nong Khai Muk,” sustained severe injuries to her head and neck after the dog, a seven-year-old male pit bull named “Solar,” dragged her from her bed and attacked her.
Rescue workers who arrived at the scene found the girl had severe head wounds, including a 1-2 cm deep laceration exposing her skull, a wound behind her right ear, and a scratch on her left arm.
She was rushed to Pak Kret 2 Hospital, where she remains under close medical supervision. The girl’s family has filed a police report at Pak Kret Police Station.
The dog’s owner, 54-year-old apologized for the incident, stating that the dog escaped after a neighbor left a gate unlatched. She expressed remorse for the girl’s injuries and pledged to take full responsibility. She also revealed that the dog had sustained a head injury after being struck with a mortar pestle by a bystander attempting to stop the attack. (TNA)
On February 28, Priya Singhsuwan, 34, the mother of the young girl and her 63-year-old mother, Somchit Singhsuwan, arrived at Pak Kret Police Station with medical documents to submit to Siriraj Hospital. Their goal is to obtain a medical report for further treatment of the child, who was severely injured by a dog. Police are waiting for the medical report to determine the severity of the injuries, as the victim is a child and cannot come to a settlement until the severity is confirmed.
According to Priya and Somchit, they arrived at the police station to try and negotiate with the dog owner, but were told by the authorities to first submit the medical report showing the extent of the injuries. The child has suffered wounds to the head, ears, and body, with 55 stitches on her head, and her ear almost severed. Due to the child’s ongoing medical treatment, discussions on settlement have been postponed until her condition improves. The police will wait for the medical results and will proceed with further steps once the full details are available.
