Trat tourism booms with record-breaking months, Koh Chang awaits as hotels fill up and visitors arrive in droves

Over 465,000 visitors in just two months, generating 4.3 billion baht in revenue.

TRAT, Thailand – Trat has witnessed a vibrant start to 2025, with over 465,000 visitors—both domestic and international—flocking to the province in the first two months of the year. The influx has contributed more than 4.3 billion baht in tourism revenue, prompting the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to roll out year-round promotional activities.

On March 8, Kornkhot Opas, Director of the TAT Trat Office, reported that between January and February, a total of 465,618 tourists visited Trat. Of these, 222,751 (44.5%) were Thai tourists, while 242,867 (55.5%) were international visitors. This surge marks a significant increase compared to the previous year.



The province generated 4.308 billion baht in revenue, with Thai tourists contributing 1.329 billion baht and foreign tourists bringing in 2.979 billion baht. The average expenditure per trip stood at 4,407.49 baht per person. Trat Airport also experienced a rise in passenger traffic, with 16,164 travelers recorded during this period.

Accommodation demand remained strong, with an average occupancy rate of 74.48% across 11,299 available rooms. Tourists stayed an average of 3.42 nights per visit.

TAT plans year-round events to attract more tourists, with European agencies already eyeing bookings.

Trat has set ambitious targets for 2025, aiming to welcome 1.89 million Thai tourists and generate 15.75 billion baht in revenue from domestic travelers. Meanwhile, international tourists are expected to spend an estimated 8,333 baht per trip, further boosting the local economy.

To maintain momentum, TAT Trat is implementing strategies to attract international visitors, including hosting European travel agencies from nine countries in April for a promotional tour on Koh Chang. This initiative has already led to an increase in hotel bookings.



Throughout the year, Trat will also host various events to promote tourism, including Chinese New Year and Songkran festivals, the “Time to Honeymoon New Year 2024” campaign, and local product exhibitions. These activities aim to draw both Thai and foreign travelers, highlighting Trat’s unique charm.

The most popular modes of transportation to Trat include private cars, buses, minivans, and rental or public transport services.

With an occupancy rate of 74.48%, tourists are staying an average of 3.42 nights in beautiful Trat.
