2nd Billy Eyles (17) 38pts

T3rd Barry Tregurtha (18) 36pts

T3rd Jack Grindvold (3) 36pts

Things are improving greatly on those greens at Rayong Green Valley and nearly back to normal now.  Nice weather was on the cards and it was shaping up to be another great day of golf.

We had a smaller than usual gang out there today with just 20 golfers, but I guess that’s not too bad for a very slow low season.  Hopefully with the Pound Sterling over 53 and the U.S. Greenback over 34, things will pick up soon.  I need to pay for all of those kitchen upgrades!

The librarian, Barry the Book is back in town and joining us after a long absence.  Raconteur and bon vivant, Bazza always gets the lads pumped up for a challenging afternoons’ competition and today was no exception.  Reputations are won or lost on these fairways, and only grief comes later in the bar to those who bottle it.

Jack Grindvold has been one of the better golfers in Pattaya for quite some time now.  He works at his game and as he is down to a 3 handicap, his efforts are rewarded.  Jack ties for third today with the aforementioned Barry Tregurtha.  Barry, on the other hand, has never actually seen a driving range, but he pulled it off today with a shot a hole to shoot his handicap and land on the podium as well.

Billy “the Hat” Eyles took second place with another great round and turned in a 38-point card.  The chicken dinner today went to Stephen Hoge with a tremendous 41 on his card.  When you play with Muffy and Barry, anything can happen!

Wednesday, July 15, Khao Kheow (yellow tees) – Stableford

T1st Kenny Aihara (3) 34pts

T1st Lasse Pettersen (23) 34pts

3rd Dave Ferris (23) 33pts

It is always nice to get back to Khao Kheow, but today was a sad one as it was the last round for Kenny Aihara for this summer.  Kenny is headed back to Nagoya, Japan for 4 months of surfing and we will see him again in November.

I had a group of English gents that are based in the U.A.E. in town this week, so one of the courses I put them out on was Khao Kheow.  All of them praised this golf course for the layout and condition.  They also mentioned how reasonable the price was for a top quality Pete Dye course, which would be 5 times more expensive back there.  Sometimes we forget just how good we have it here!

Dave Ferris (the Tooth Fairy) had a good day today and took third with 33.  He had a win the previous week up in Kabinburi so it looks like Dave is finding his form.

Big Lasse Pettersen is also playing quite well and tied for the win today with 34 hard earned Stableford points.  The guy he tied with is no stranger to the podium.  Once again Kenny Aihara topped the heap and left in a blaze of glory.  Nice going Kenny, have a good trip home and see you in the autumn mate!

Thanks to all who joined up with us this past week, and keep it in the fairway!
