BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is moving forward with its “Homes for Thais” project, with 140,000 applicants pre-approved for housing loans through the Government Housing Bank (GHB). The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Board has approved the leasing of four land plots for residential development, expanding affordable housing options in key urban and suburban areas.
The selected sites include a location near Central Ladprao Shopping Mall, Thonburi (Siriraj), Chiang Rak in Pathum Thani, and an area close to Chiang Mai Train Station. These sites offer convenient access to transport hubs, universities, and essential services, making them ideal for prospective homeowners.
The Transport Ministry will present an overview of the project to the Cabinet in mid-March, reviewing initial registrations and planning future expansions.
The project seeks to address housing inequality by repurposing state-owned land for public benefit. Each development will include essential infrastructure to create well-planned residential communities that support long-term social and economic growth. (NNT)
