NAKHON NAYOK, 27 July 2015, Some of the people of Nakhon Nayok Province oppose a new industrial-oriented city plan, which could be implemented in 2017. They have signed a petition asking related agencies to reconsider the project.

The residents opposing the plan yesterday gathered at the province’s Suan Luang Rama IX Public Park, lead by a group called the Network of Nakhon Nayok Citizens.

The new city plan would allow the establishment of industrial factories, such as petrol refineries and asbestos processing plants, in the province’s green areas.

The group demanded that the provincial administration maintain the province’s natural beauty and keep it free of industrial developments.

The petition listing the names of those who oppose the new city plan will be submitted to the Governor of Nakhon Nayok, the provincial Office of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, the Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Personal Affairs Division of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
