BANGKOK, 2 August 2015, The Ministry of the Interior has ordered the authorities in all provinces across the country to tackle drug abuse and drug trafficking in accordance with government policy.

The Ministry’s National Command Center for Drugs Elimination has instructed all governors to explore mechanisms to tackle drug abuse in their provinces. Governors have been called on to establish district-level screening centers, as well as centers for the care and monitoring of rehabilitated drug addicts.

Information gathered from these centers will be entered into the Narcotics Information System for the Provinces Agency (NISPA). The NISPA database will then be used to determine each province’s preparedness in the establishment of rehabilitation centers. Additional measures are being considered, including local anti-drug campaigns.

This involves related law enforcement agencies carrying out drug raids, extended investigations, and state administration measures. The anti-drug campaign would also raise public awareness of drug abuse among target groups, encouraging addicts to seek rehabilitation.
