Monday, June 27, Green Valley (white tees) – Monthly Medal

1st Lasse Pettersen (22) net 67

T2nd Robbie Taylor (13) net 70

T2nd Dale Shier (13) net 70

As per usual during the summer months, our Monthly Medal took place at our “home course” Rayong Green Valley.  More locals are members here than any other course in the area and together with St. Andrews and the 18-hole Silky Oaks this resort has become a fantastic golf destination.

Lasse, Joy, Dale and Robbie.Lasse, Joy, Dale and Robbie.

Today we saw two 13 handicappers both shoot a net 70 to tie for second place.  Robbie Taylor and Dale Shier must have had a real shootout to end up all-square.  Even they were 3 off the pace as Lasse Pettersen became our first MM winner to require an XXXXL Antigua shirt!  As most of you are aware, our shirts are already cut quite generously.  A 4XL is huge, as our lovely Joy is demonstrating in the photo.  Good job Lasse, and we hope you wear it with pride back in Sweden.

Tuesday, July 28, Laem Chabang (white tees) – Stableford

1st Robbie Watts (9) 35pts

2nd Per Swenssen (15) 34pts

3rd Peter LeNoury (10) 33pts

Not everyone has been out here since the big redecoration, but we can confirm that they have done an absolutely beautiful job of their existing premises and you would hardly recognize the place.  It is a stunning design job and they have even expanded the Pro Shop to make it the biggest and best in Pattaya.  You are crazy if you don’t play this world class Jack Nicklaus course this summer as every Tuesday they have a Sports Day rate of 2,300 baht, and well worth it.

Thursday, July 30, Phoenix Gold (white tees) – Stableford

1st Fred Graham (16) 35pts

T2nd Dave Ferris (23) 34pts

T2nd Per Swenssen (17) 34pts

A van full of happy campers was headed out to the very popular Phoenix Gold today as pleasant overcast skies continued through the week.  The Lake nine is still under massive construction and they say it will indeed be ready for the high season and I hope they are right!  Mountain and Ocean are also great tracks so out we went for the last golf day in July.

Dave Ferris has been a great ambassador for The Golf Club and his support for the Caddy Smile programme is greatly appreciated by all of us.  After golf today, he took a caddie from Siam Country Club to have much needed dental work started, which should take several visits over the next few weeks.  We will be reporting her progress and show you the before and after photos so you will see where your kind donations are going.

Dave had a decent day at the course and his 34 points were enough to tie with Per Swenssen, who had an earlier podium appearance to finish his hot week of golf.  Story of the day was our ol’ mate Freddy Graham who made one more putt than the other lads to squeeze out a victory with 35 points.

Thanks to all who joined up with us this week, we appreciate your support.  If you didn’t see our facebook posting, all comp winners in August will also win our famous Pork Chop Dinner on our BBQ nights of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday!  This might be just the time to join in with The Golf Club and Captain Phil and see how we get things done!
