Winner, winner pork chop dinner! Andy Makara was our first August champion here today at R.G.V. and also won a free meal on one of our Steak Nights on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday. Andy was the only bloke to break their handicap today so a well deserved win it was, as well as good timing.
Jack Grindvold from News Steak & Grill in Jomtien also had a decent round to take second place with 34 points on the card, with visiting Stevie Coghlan a surprise third on just 29. Most days here you need to be in the mid thirties to get to the podium, so Steve also had a day of good timing.

I have to commend the staff here for calling me on Monday to let me know the greens were going to be sanded. As it turned out, we were to go ahead and keep our tee times as this is a much anticipated venue and the conditions are the same for everyone. It turned out just fine, as about 6 of the greens had been sanded, as must be done, and we found the rest of the course in very good shape.
The weather also cooperated as we had a fairly cool day with overcast skies. The Sports Day rate of 1,150 baht green fee is great value for this beautiful golf course which should make anybody happy.
Our July Monthly Medal winner was at it again, as big Lasse Pettersen ripped up the course with a fantastic 38 points to top the podium and get the chop as well. You may have seen Lasse’s photo last week with Joy? Well, Joy has now moved up north with her husband Les after working the morning shift here at TGC for the last 6 years, and we thank her for her amazing punctuality and dedication.
A big wheel around here, Dave Ferris took second place with a very respectable 34 points, that’s a good score at St. Andrews any day. Alan Bate rounded off the trio on 32 points to bring another day of millionaire’s golf to an end.
