Pattaya School No. 11 went on the lookout for the next great Thai novelist when they ran a workshop to help students become writers.
Wannapa Wannasri, supervisor from the Pattaya Education Department, hosted the seminar for more than 200 kids and teachers Aug. 3.
Well-known non-fiction writer Suchart Piromkul lectured on basic story-writing methods, vocabulary and technical skills.
Suchart said students have the potential to create the most interesting stories based on their experiences. He told the students they must pour their emotions into their writing to make it interesting.

Reading is very important and it is also the source of information where students will get new ideas for their stories, he said.
Reading local non-fiction reports and news also will give the students an idea of where they are living and how it used to be. Students will then have many things to write about and it won’t take very long before they can leverage local knowledge into their stories, he said.
School officials said the skills gained in the workshop can be used both inside the classroom and out, and encouraged parents to get involved with their children’s writing.
