Health Ministry prepares medical services for Bike for Mom participants

BANGKOK, 13 August 2015 – The Ministry of Public Health is ready to dispatch teams of medical staff to take care of people who will participate in the Bike for Mom activities across the nation.

Public Health Minister Dr Rajata Rajatanavin opened a press conference on his ministry’s plan to provide medical aid for all cyclists taking part in the Bike for Mom campaign this August 16. The minister revealed that more than 200 medical teams, comprising advanced and basic life support staff as well as first aid staff, will be stationed at 60 different locations along the cycling route in Bangkok, such as the Royal Plaza, the Royal Thai Army Sports Stadium and the 11th Infantry Regiment King’s Guard. There will also be a mobile unit traveling with the cyclists throughout their journey.

As for other provinces, staff will be sent from the provincial public health office to tend participants who might need medical attention while traveling along the designated route.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr Narong Sahamethapat, who accompanied the minister on the occasion, encouraged the Bike for Mom cyclists to maintain their physical fitness in advance of the activity and have all necessary equipment ready, including bicycles, gloves and helmets.
