PSC Golf from The Golf Club

Monday, August 17, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

T1st Dave Ferris (22) 37pts

T1st John Emmerson (13) 37pts

T3rd Gary Emmett (18) 36pts

T3rd Jimmy Dundon (17) 36pts

It was a rough morning with a taste of jet-lag as our body clocks were adjusting back to Pattaya time after staying up for the final round of the P.G.A.  It was well worth it though, and do we now have another classic rivalry with Jason Day and Jordan Speith being the new Nicklaus-Palmer?  Only time will tell, but there is no denying there are two great golfing talents out there.

Dave Ferris, John Emmerson, Gary Emmett and Jimmy Dundon all made it onto the podium on Monday.Dave Ferris, John Emmerson, Gary Emmett and Jimmy Dundon all made it onto the podium on Monday.

Speaking of talent, what about our own T.G.C. boys?  We did pretty well after all, and with 36 points, Gary Emmett and Jimmy Dundon shared third place on the podium for today’s efforts played on a course we found in beautiful condition.

That podium was getting a bit crowded with another tie in first place as Dave Ferris and John Emmerson turned in cards of 37 points.  Johnny took third place here the previous week, but Dave was in a position to make no improvement at all and was the winner once again!  Methinks Mr. Ferris has taken a liking to Green Valley!

Friday, August 21, Silky Oaks (white tees) – Stableford

1st Ken Sorensen (15) 40pts

T2nd Jimmy Brackett (8) 39pts

T2nd Mark Wood (9) 39pts

I was really looking forward to playing here, but unfortunately the old ribs are still a bit dodgy so my introduction to Silky Oaks will have to wait another month.  It is a new layout of sorts, in that there are finally 18 holes and 18 separate fairways.  I liked the layout before, and now they tell me it has evolved into a really terrific test of golf.  Sure, there are a few rough patches and the 18th desperately needs the rain, but this will all come good very quickly.

We had some great scores out here today, and a pair of long time Pattaya residents took the tie for second as Jimmy Brackett and Mark Wood knocked it ‘round in 39!  Story of the day was visiting Kenny Sorensen, who had a great round of golf and his 40-pointer was the best on the day.

Thanks to all who joined us for another fine week of golf in paradise.
