Chonburi Immigration Police arrested an Egyptian man accused of dealing drugs in Pattaya entertainment venues.
Atef Zakaria Ibrahim Elghonemi, 61, was apprehended Aug. 28 in an undercover sting operation at the Big C South Pattaya parking lot, where operatives had arranged to have him drop off drugs. Elghonemi spotted the cops, however, and tried to escape while ditching a cigarette box he was seen holding.
Officers recovered the pack of Marlboro cigarettes and found inside nine plastic bags of crystal methamphetamine and eight ya ba tablets.
Egyptian Atef Zakaria Ibrahim Elghonemi has been arrested and charged with possession and sale of Class 1 narcotics.
Elghonemi told police he had been living in Pattaya for over 10 years and has a wife and child living in Chiang Rai. Police said he admitted to selling drugs to other Egyptians and bar girls to support his family.
He was charged with possession and sale of Class 1 narcotics.
