Students from Garden International School (GIS) are celebrating record examination results.

In May, students sat their final examinations for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The results have just been released, and show that 100 percent of GIS students achieved 24 points or more. The total of 24 points is the normal pass mark for the Diploma.

Top scorer was Sarah Chi, with a points total of 41 out of 45, which places her in the top three percent of students worldwide. Sarah started at GIS as an ESL student (English as a Second Language) but quickly progressed. The score of 41 is the joint highest-ever for a female student at GIS. Sarah is now going to the US to study at the world-famous University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The IB class of 2014-15 achieved Garden’s best ever pass rate.

Also doing well was Yeen, who scored 38 points, a record score for a Thai student at GIS. Yeen is now going to study at Durham University in England. In addition, Yashvanth Suri gained 36 points and is now heading to the world-famous Purdue University in the US.

The average grade for students was just over 5 out of 7 and the average points score by Diploma students was 33. Overall, there was a pass mark of 94 percent, another record for GIS.

IB Coordinator Ian Fraser said, “To have such a high pass rate and so many outstanding performances shows why so many parents choose to send their children to GIS to study IB. This is a very challenging course and I am very proud that so many students achieved results they can be truly proud of.”

GIS is the most-established IB school in the region and its results are regularly far above the global average.

Sarah gained the joint-highest total of IB points ever for a GIS student.

Yeen had the most IB points ever by a Thai student at GIS.
