BANGKOK, 27 July 2011 – Thai Airways International (THAI) affirms that its pilots have strictly followed the safety standard after finding it would be too risky to land Boeing 747 airliner at Phuket International Airport on Tuesday morning due to bad weather conditions.
THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand said the pilots of the TG flight number TG 201 on the Bangkok – Phuket route placed passengers’ safety as the highest priority, so they decided not to make a landing and immediately returned to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport following the safety standard.
The president noted that weather conditions over Phuket were extremely bad, and visibility was poorer than standard at that time.
Nevertheless, Mr Piyasvasti pointed out that after the weather in the southern province was clear, the flight resumed at 11.19 hrs and safely reached the destination at 12.35 hrs on the same day.
