BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 – The majority of the public viewed that the contents within the new draft of the permanent constitution need to be clear and unbiased, according to a survey by Suan Dusit Poll.
Asked about the qualities they sought in members of the to-be-appointed constitution drafting committee, survey respondents indicated that each member should be a good person and honest, possess a distinguished work history, be dedicated to the country and the public, and be fair and unbiased.
Asked about how to create acceptance for the new draft charter, survey respondents suggested that the contents of the draft need to be clear and neutral, be of benefit to the nation, and must pass through detailed evaluation from many parties.
According to the poll, the majority of the public viewed the rejection of the draft charter as beneficial toward creating unity and acceptance among the public and would benefit the upcoming round of charter drafting.
Survey respondents also indicated that they would like Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to select the 21 members of the new charter drafting committee based on the interest of the public.
