Two dozen Pattaya Tourist Police Volunteers learned basic first aid and life support at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s latest “iRescue” seminar.

Hospital deputy director Dr. Siharat Lohachitranon opened the Sept. 5 workshop, explaining the objective of the iRescue project. Lecturers and professional medical workers from the Emergency Department followed, teaching basic life support and first aid training methods.

The focus on resuscitation was aimed at teaching residents how to preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest. CPR is necessary and is the first step toward saving a life before taking the patient to a hospital.

Physical demonstrations of how to perform CPR were later executed by health workers.

BHP has held the iRescue project repeatedly since 2013 for various organizations in Pattaya and surrounding areas, including police, tourist police, business groups, teachers, students, volunteers and many local communities.

Tip: If you know the Bee Gees song “Stayin Alive”, the beat to that song is the perfect cadence for performing CPR.
