PSC Golf from The Golf Club

Monday, Sept. 4, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

1st Paul Bolton (14) 38pts

T2nd Darren Stanton (18) 34pts

T2nd John Emmerson (13) 34pts

Much needed precipitation finally appeared in Pattaya last week and aside from local bits of flooding, it was a most welcome rainfall.  It certainly helped the condition of the course here at Green Valley, although the greens were still on the slow side.  Lakes and ponds were also looking fairly full so it was good news all round.

Golf sign ups are holding up and we had about 20 players out today.  Only one of them broke their handicap, and the next were 4 shots back.  Darren Stanton stays with us about half of the year and today his podium station was shared with John Emmerson, both with 34 on the card.  Paul Bolton proved the man to beat with a big red 38 circled atop his scorecard for a resounding victory at our home course.  Well played Paul, and thanks for showing the lads how it is done.

Wednesday, Sept. 16, Greenwood (yellow tees) – Stableford

1st Paul Bolton (14) 38pts

2nd Al Marumoto (10) 37pts

3rd Phil Smedley (10) 35pts

It was a bit on the damp side today, and as usual in the rainy season we opted for ‘lift, clean and place’ on the short stuff.  A couple of short outbursts or rain interrupted the round but we all finished in just over 4 hours.

For the most part, Greenwood was in pretty good shape and the greens were in decent condition.  The layout here is second to none and it is worth the extra 10 minutes drive to play this lovely golf course.

Capt. Phil, playing off 10, continued his good run once again and 35 was good enough to take third place today.  Al Marumoto, also off 10, did 2 strokes better than Phil and claimed second with his 37-pointer.  Story of the week was the double-header from visiting Paul Bolton as another 38-pointer took him to the top for a great week of golf.

Friday, Sept. 18, Siam Waterside (white tees) – Stableford

The morning greeted us with more rain, so at 07:30 we pulled the plug and cancelled golf here today.  It had been pretty continuous rain for the last 48 hours and the decision was made not to play in such wet conditions.  In the end it was a mistake as the skies began to clear and by the afternoon it was dry and gorgeous.  It was such a shame as we had 36 guys signed up to play today, but we will reschedule in October.
