Coco Sports Club in Hua Yai near Pattaya was extremely pleased to welcome eighteen Hong Kong lawn bowlers and guests for a friendly bowls afternoon on Sept. 17 before they were due to return home. They call themselves the Hong Kong DD Bowlers Club, which we understand means Drink and Drunk, but they could also play a mean game of bowls.
It was a very congenial competition with the Coco “A” team, named just by luck of the draw and consisting of Frank, Dennis, On and Harvey, being the only unbeaten team on the day with 6 points. Coco’s new rising Thai lady stars, Nit, Kat and Lita well assisted their team with a further 4 points to leave Coco with a 16-8 points win overall.

The last game was interrupted by the tropical storm and an electric power cut but by then it was nearly 7.30 p.m. and time for the Hong Kongers to return to Bangkok. We thank them for the visit and their hospitality in paying for everyone’s bowling, drinks and the tapas buffet provided by Sue – even with her nearly repaired broken foot.
