BANGKOK, 25 September 2015 – The Office of Agricultural Economics (OAG) has launched the “Ag-Info” application to provide daily reports on prices of farm commodities and other information essential to farmers.
Lersak Rewtarkulpaiboon, the OAG secretary-general, said the government has a policy to use information technology to improve economic competitiveness, and thus the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has been working on its vision to develop farmers into ‘smart farmers’ and agriculture officials into ‘smart officers’. Towards that goal, the OAG is looking to enable farmers to receive agriculture-related information through smart phones and allow them to have quicker and more convenient access to said information.
The Ag-Info application is now available for download, for both iOS and Android phones. The application is also slated to be improved within December, to enable more information to be delivered to users.
