BANGKOK, 25 September 2015 -The Ministry of Commerce has announced its determination to improve the Thai economy by making it more independent from overseas markets.

Deputy Commerce Minister Suwit Mesinsee said the Thai economy is being hampered by increasing trade restrictions and the global economy that still remains sluggish.

The government will thus pay more attention to boosting economic factors in the country such as providing low income earners with more funds through the Village Fund program and offering soft loans to SMEs.

The Ministry of Commerce will work in collaboration with other agencies to make sure manufacturers are able to stand on their own feet. Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam will also become Thailand’s new target markets.
