CEA Project Logistics Thailand has been in the media spotlight recently due to a high profile venture that will greatly assist further development of the MRT transport system in Bangkok.
CEA has been employed to manage the transportation and delivery of 63 rail carriages over the next six months for the capital’s rail network expansion. The carriages are being shipped from Yokohama in Japan and will be employed on the much needed new Purple Line route.
Along with delivery and transportation responsibilities, CEA will manage the port supervision at Laem Chabang as well as custom clearances for the carriages and all necessary equipment and storage at the CEA Free Trade Zone in Laem Chabang.

The first batch of carriages was recently unloaded for storage, then re-loaded onto hydraulic trailers for the inland transportation to the MRT Bang Yai Depot in Bangkok and finally unloaded using specialised 15-tonne jacks.
A grand ceremony was held at the CEA Free Trade Zone facility to celebrate the arrival of the first six carriages with the Minister of Transport as a guest of honour to cut the ribbon and take a first tour of the carriages along with the mass media.
The MRT Purple Line Project is a 23-kilometer elevated heavy rail transit system with 16 stations situated along the route. A total of 21 train sets will be used for the new line with three carriages for each one.
Huge cranes were required to unload the rail coaches.
The northwestern suburb of Bangkok in Nonthaburi Province and southern area of Thonburi in Rat Burana District will greatly benefit from the creation of the Purple line, easing the strain on commuters outside of the central Bangkok area.
