IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, Oct. 11, Green Valley – Medal

It was time for our monthly medal again at Green Valley – actually our organizer had forgotten all about it until last month’s winner reminded him.  That month went around quickly!

We were very lucky to get finished today, while we were on the sixteenth the rumbles of thunder started and the black clouds started closing in and by the time the first group were half way up the seventeenth the rain started and was very heavy from there on in.  By the time the second group got to the eighteenth green it was almost unplayable.

Ged Foy.Ged Foy.

The other groups behind went back to one of the shops and waited for over an hour to resume play.  Actually, those of us who were in the clubhouse were wondering why they bothered to wait but when they finally got in we could see why as some of them had good scores and the winner actually came from the last group.

At one stage it looked like Alec Hoare was going to repeat his win of last month but he let it slip a bit on the last few holes and finished on a net seventy two and lost out by one shot to Ged Foy who carded a net seventy one.  Ged also had the only ‘2’ of the day and got a good pay out.

Michael Williams, who just got back from a long holiday in Ireland last week, came third with a net seventy four and Frank McGowan and Declan Kelly, who are also just back from Ireland, came fourth and fifth with net seventy fives.

1st Ged Foy (28) net 71

2nd Alec Hoare (15) net 72

3rd Michael Williams (16) net 74

4th Frank McGowan (18) net 75

5th Declan Kelly (12) net 75
