IPGC Golf from the Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, Oct. 18, Green Valley – Stableford

Now that high season is starting to approach and some of our friends are back for the winter, our group is starting to get larger for our regular Sunday game here at Green Valley.

Again it was a perfect day for golf, not too hot and no rain and although the course is in very good condition the greens are still a lot slower than usual, which seems to make putting more difficult as it is hard to convince yourself to hit the ball up to the hole.

Declan Kelly & Steve Harris.

The greens didn’t manage to stop Declan Kelly amassing a very good thirty nine points however and becoming the clear winner of the day.  The trip home to Ireland seems to have been good to Declan as he has been playing very steady golf since he came back and he was the only player today to score better than handicap.

In second place was Brendan Roddy with thirty five points and third was Russell Gilroy with thirty four.  Russell had the only ‘2’ of the day which meant that he took home more money than the overall winner!

Fourth, fifth and sixth places were all on thirty three with Alec Hoare winning the count back to come fourth ahead of Tony Pieroni and Frank McGowan.

1st Declan Kelly (12) 39pts

2nd Brendan Roddy (23) 35pts

3rd Russell Gilroy (16) 34pts

4th Alec Hoare (15) 33pts

5th Tony Pieroni (14) 33pts

6th Frank McGowan (18) 33pts

2’s: Russell Gilroy.

Tuesday, Oct. 20, Phoenix – Stableford

Today we joined up with The Pratumnak Friendly Golf Society and went to Phoenix to avail ourselves of the very good price they are offering for this time of year, which makes it excellent value for a very good golf course and also a very short journey to get there and back.

All the times before when we joined up with the PFGS, one of our regular members had managed to take the top spot, but not today.  Steve Harris, who is a PFGS member, took the plaudits with thirty nine points on what was a day of high scoring.

Both Frank McGowan and John Dearden also had very good scores with both of them signing for thirty eight points each and Frank edging the count back to take second.  Ted Morris also beat his handicap with thirty seven points to come fourth.

We had no ‘2’ today.

1st Steve Harris (21) 39pts

2nd Frank McGowan (18) 38pts

3rd John Dearden (18) 38pts

4th Ted Morris (13) 37pts

Thursday, Oct. 22, Burapha – Stableford

On Friday a good group set out for Burapha on what looked like a very nice day.  Unfortunately while there was no rain in Pattaya that day, out at the course the skies opened midway through our round and we had to abandon our game.

We were very surprised when we went in to the clubhouse that Burapha offered us a rain-check for nine holes for green fee and golf cart.  This is unusual for a golf club to do this when you are paying a reduced fee on a Sport Day and we weren’t really expecting it and we would like to thank the management of Burapha for doing it.

Note: The Tara Court Golf Group play every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, leaving O’Gara’s Bar and Restaurant in the Tara Court on Pratamnak Rd. around 10.00 a.m.  Sign up either in O’Gara’s or ring Joe on 089 249 1364.
