The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, November 8. Everyone is warmly welcome. Author Tom Crowley will talk about his most recent work “Shrapnel Wounds” released this past July which is his Vietnam memoir. He served as a USA infantry officer in the Vietnam War where he was wounded, and decorated for his service. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Pattaya Soul Club will be holding a 4th anniversary Souled Out party on Saturday, November 7 at the Access Inn on Pattaya 3rd Road. Entrance is THB 400 and includes a free flow of wine and San Miguel beer from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Hand to Hand Foundation. The 15th Pattaya Long Boat Racing Championships will take place at the Mabprachan Lake reservoir on November 21 & 22 from 9:00 – 18:00 hrs on both days. The event will be the gathering of well-known long boat racing teams from every region of Thailand. There will also be many other fun activities during the event such as a long-drum competition, buffalo racing and more.

Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC)’s annual Christmas Bazaar at the Holiday Inn Pattaya runs 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 22. A variety of unique products will be on sale, including jewelry, designer clothing, leather goods, ornaments, gifts, gourmet treats and more. Plus some great prizes in the Grand Raffle. Entrance is 150 baht (free for children under 12).

The annual Pattaya International Fireworks Festival will take place on Friday & Saturday, November 28 & 29. The festival is a display competition between multiple countries and includes parades, live music concerts, traditional and contemporary dance shows and numerous food, drink and souvenir stalls. Each country taking part in the competition will give a short preview of their firework shows on the first day followed by a full 45-minute performance by each nation on the second day.

Groups & Associations

The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboonsampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
