Halloween a thriller in Pattaya
Halloween isn’t native to Thailand, but Pattaya has embraced the western tradition like a big scary monster, with ghouls and goblins taking over the bodies of party lovers for one night a year.
Walking Street was Ground Zero for the zombies and witches with both tourists and locals putting on elaborate makeup to look as scary as possible Oct. 31.

Bars and clubs were full of creatures, monsters and ghosts, with nearly every venue hosting special parties.
Many hotels threw their own spooky-themed parties, offering customers a great night of entertainment and fun.
The Holiday Inn Pattaya hosted a “Salsa Halloween Party” in the Havana Bar where many creatures were found on the dance floor. As a highlight, Pattaya dance studio performers put on a zombie dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.
Sue with Eva, Od and Mary were a scary sight at Mood.
At the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort, there was a family party at the Zulu pub. Prizes were offered for the best ghostly costume, as well as the ugliest and scariest. The 345-baht entry fee included soft drinks and snacks.
The Hard Rock Pattaya put on its “Spooky Forest” shindig, with promotional drinks and food on offer.
Of course, Pattaya’s biggest haunt, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! The Royal Garden Plaza had its biggest day of the year. Its Haunted Adventure held the finale of the special “Horrors of Prison” exhibition.

There also was a costume contest offering cash and other prizes. The museum also painted faces, recommended costumes and sold masks and get ups for as little as 350 baht.
The ‘Funky Dead’ performance to ‘Thriller’ was one of the highlights of the evening at the Holiday Inn.
