First day of the high season and a lot of old faces returning – welcome to Mike Holmes, Bill McGarvie, Glenn Reeves, Jason & Brendon Moylan, Pat Regan, Mark Rossiter, Sam Bennett & Scott Baurgarten. We had 18 players in total out today so we played with two 3-balls and three 4-balls in two separate flights.

Christen Boysen, off his new 11 handicap, still seems unstoppable and he took the day’s honours in A flight with a fine 39 points. The aforementioned Mike Holmes always plays well no matter which course and he returned a very good 38 points for second place.
Bobby Charlton’s brother, Bill Peach, playing in the same group as Mike, shot a 37-point round to take top spot in the B flight, one ahead of Nick Shaw. Bill also recorded one of five ‘2’s on the day, the others coming from Christen Boysen, Mike Holmes, Glenn Reeves and Colin Davis.
The master of Silky Oak, Mogens Melander, appeared to still have the demons of Halloween with him and they took their deadly toll on poor Mogens as he trailed in at the back of the pack with just 21 points.
Monday, Nov. 2, Treasure Hill – Stableford
A Flight

We arrived at Treasure Hill for our 10.30 tee time, following the Growling Swan society, to be told that they (the course) had run out of carts but the price was still the same! After a short discussion and a couple of phone calls the green fee was reduced to 500 baht and the caddy fee 350 baht, and they also found a couple of carts for the golfers who could not walk the course.
A little thought for the future when they start to have a lot of bookings, maybe allowing 2 persons to a cart would be a possible solution? Apart from that the course was in excellent condition.
We had enough starters for two flights once again and in the A flight, Maurice (PSC Golf Chairman) Roberts came in with a startling 42 points on possibly the toughest golf course in Pattaya to win by a proverbial street. Asger Levin got off to a great start, parring the first 2 holes and just lipping out on the 3rd, but this was too good to last and he had to settle for second place on 34 points.
In B flight, Bill Peach collected his second win in 2 days but, along with the rest of the flight, he found the going tough and his 33 points was the best anyone could muster in the division. Playing partner Mick Coghlan took second just one point in arrears.
There were no ‘2’s in either flight.
