Contractors are cementing in sloped land next to the East Pattaya railroad tracks to prevent erosion, and digging a trench to try and prevent flood waters from rushing into area neighborhoods.
When the tracks were laid years ago, soil was piled up between drainage canals, blocking a portion of the flow of storm water. Today, it results in torrents of water rushing down sois Khao Talo, Nernplabwan, and Siam Country Club.

The city has tried to combat flooding with pumps, but they have been ineffective during heavy downpours.
Pattaya workers have begun digging out the mud and rubbish in the canals and started reshaping the land next to the tracks, digging out a trench to below street level in hopes of sending water flowing along the road to canals, rather than onto the road surface.
