Monday, Nov. 16, Greenwood – Stableford

We were allocated the C and A nines today and with seven groups out the cut was made at 18 and below for the top flight.  It was a blistering hot day here and the majority were relieved to get back after the round.

The best score of the day was 37 points, which won division 2 for Steven Cliff and in second place were two 33s, with John Walsh just beating Magne Gunnarson 14/10 on a back six count back.

Dennis Scougall.

Scotland’s Dennis Scougall topped division 1 with 32 points, two ahead of Iain Usher in second and Pete Sumner was third with 29.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Nik Evans and Mark Potton (2), and (Div 2) John Walsh.

Nik Evans birdied C6 in division 1 to scoop the ‘2’s pot and there was a rollover in division 2.

Wednesday, Nov. 18, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We had one more group out today than Monday’s start list and an identical split in the two divisions.

Iain Usher came in with 35 points to win division 1 while Khao Yai boy, Tim Hake, took second on 34 points and fighting for third position were four players all with 32 points; Chris Voller being the happy chappy after edging out Terry Madsen, Midge and Pete Sumner on a back nine count back.

Magne Gunnarson.

Alan Duckett claimed the division 2 spoils after beating Cliff Elliot 16/15 on count back after they both came in with 32 points each, and in third place was Sav McGill.

Tim Hake, Terry Madsen, Dennis Scougall, Pete Sumner and Iain Usher all got birdie ‘2’s and split the pot in division 1 while in division 2 there was a double rollover to Crystal Bay the following Monday.

Friday, Nov. 20, Eastern Star – Stableford

There was heavy rain here at Eastern Star in the early morning but no negative phone calls from the guys who live around the course, so there were no cancellations and we had eleven groups out today in three divisions.

Magne Gunnarson, improving his game every round, won division 3 today with 37 points.  Max Wilson came in second on 35 points and Joe Kubon was third with 33.

Another 37 gave Mark Potton to top spot in division 2, Iain Walsh taking second after beating Bill Kana 18/14 on a back nine count back, both tied on 34 points overall.

Steven Cliff.

Wilf Latham’s even par 36 points was good enough to win division 1 as Ben Durham edged Bill Bertram 17/16 on count back for second after they both came in with 33 points each.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Colin Aspinall, Bill Bertram, Dave Horne and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Jim Connelly, Bill Kana, Joe Kubon and Max Wilson.

Dennis Scougall birdied the 6th and Pete Sumner and Iain Walsh the 17th to share the division 1 ‘2’s pot, while in division 2 there was yet another rollover.
