BANGKOK – The Meteorological Department has forecast a temperature drop in the upper parts of the country and strong winds in the South.

The Meteorological Department has reported that a powerful high-pressure system from China has reached the northeastern, central and eastern regions and is moving towards the North.

Due to the influence of the high-pressure system, the upper parts of the country will experience strong winds and colder weather. From today until December 19, the temperatures in the Northeast will drop by 4-7 degrees Celsius, whereas temperatures in other regions will lower by 3-5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, a powerful northeasterly monsoon, which is gripping the South and the Gulf of Thailand, has strengthened. Provinces in the lower South, from Surath Thani downwards, will experience two- to four-meter waves from now until December 20. Residents in coastal areas are advised to exercise caution. Small fishing boats should refrain from leaving the shore.
