BANGKOK – Deputy Commerce Minister Winichai Chaemchaeng has officiated a Must-Visit Market in Khao Saming district of Trat province.

The market, an improved variation on the community market, is a cooperation between the Department of Internal Trade and the local administrative office of Tungnonsee subdistrict.

The unveiling ceremony attended by high-ranking provincial officials, local administrative officials, related authorities and local residents.

Mr. Winichai said that remodeling community markets into must-visit markets is one of the government’s policies to strengthen local economy. He said the program would help residents, especially agriculturalists, generate income and create jobs. The Deputy Commerce Minister said the market introduces an additional channel to sell products at a fair price directly to consumers, stressing that fair trading is one of the major draws of the market. Mr. Winichai added that must-visit markets will also serve as outlets for OTOP items.

He said the government aims to establish at least one must-visit market in all 77 provinces across the Kingdom.
